Interview Me:
What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My main strengths are:

-
Adaptability: I thrive in dynamic environments and can quickly adjust to new challenges and changes. My favorite positions have always been the ones where I "wear many different hats" within an organization and have the opportunity to handle many different responsibilities.
-
Problem-Solving Skills: My motto is "bring solutions, not problems." I enjoy tackling complex problems and finding effective solutions that meet the needs of everyone involved.
-
Organization:
-
Organization is one of my biggest strengths. I use tools like Asana, digital calendars, and to-do lists to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. This helps me break down complex projects into manageable steps and maintain a clutter-free work environment, ensuring high standards and reducing stress.
-
In team settings, my organizational skills significantly contribute to group success. I coordinate activities, delegate tasks, and keep everyone on track by leading progress meetings, setting clear milestones, and facilitating open communication. This enhances both my individual performance and the collective efficiency of the team.
-

I would say my weakest area would be:

-
Public Speaking: While I am confident in small group settings, I find large audiences more challenging. To improve, I have been taking public speaking courses.
Can you describe a challenging situation and how you handled it?

At ACTEX, we faced a potential project delay due to last-minute scope-creep from outside parties. I led a task force to look at the new problems, first analyzing the root causes and then developing a plan to address the scope-creep and triage the requests. We prioritized tasks based on urgency and impact, communicated transparently with stakeholders, and worked to find a compromise with the outside parties. Through coordinated efforts and clear communication, we successfully delivered the project, still on-time and within budget.

How do you prioritize your work?

I use a combination of tools and techniques to prioritize my work, such as:

-
Covey's 4 Quadrants: Over the last two years I have been fortunate enough to work with a management consultant who has taught me a lot about prioritizing my work and my time. To me, I have learned prioritizing your time around your tasks can be even more beneficial than prioritizing the tasks themselves.
-
To-Do Lists: I maintain daily and weekly to-do lists, updating them regularly based on shifting priorities.
-
Time Blocking: Allocating specific time slots for focused work on high-priority tasks.

Describe a project you worked on that you are particularly proud of:

I am particularly proud of the creation of our new brand-focused website at ACTEX Learning. This project involved establishing our brand as a leader in the industry with a new e-Commerce website. I led a cross-functional team to ensure that all departments' needs were met. I conducted extensive user research, collaborated closely with developers and designers, and ran multiple testing phases. The project was delivered on time and within budget, with enhanced SEO optimization, resulting in a 31% growth in organic traffic that was directly rewarded with increased sales revenue. It was rewarding to see the positive impact on the company and to know I played a key role in its success.

What steps would you take if you discovered a mistake in your work?

If I discovered a mistake in my work, I would take the following steps:

-
Assess the Impact: Determine the scope and impact of the mistake.
-
Inform Relevant Parties: Communicate the issue to my supervisor and any affected team members promptly.
-
Correct the Mistake: Develop and implement a plan to correct the mistake as quickly as possible.
-
Analyze the Cause: Understand why the mistake occurred to prevent it from happening again.
-
Document and Share: Document the incident and the corrective measures taken, sharing any lessons learned with the team to improve our processes.

How do you handle feedback?

I handle feedback by:

-
Listening Actively: Paying close attention to the feedback without interrupting.
-
Asking Questions: Clarifying any points that are not clear to ensure I fully understand the feedback.
-
Reflecting: Taking time to reflect on the feedback and how it applies to my work.
-
Taking Action: Implementing changes based on the feedback to improve my performance.
-
Seeking Follow-Up: Asking for follow-up feedback to ensure that the changes I’ve made are effective.

Describe the type of work environment in which you thrive.

I thrive in a collaborative and dynamic work environment where teamwork and innovation are encouraged. An environment that values open communication, continuous learning, and mutual support is ideal for me. I enjoy workplaces that offer a mix of individual and team projects, where feedback is constructive and aimed at growth. Additionally, a culture that recognizes and rewards effort and achievements helps me stay motivated and engaged.
